Is it true that room temp water is better for you than stuff that's been chilled in the fridge?

I think the argument is that cold water isn't absorbed as readily as the cold tends to cause the blood vessels around the stomach to constrict. I don't know how true that is though.

But what is "room temperature" anyway? Does it not depend on the room in question?

Constipated, eh...?

Solution is to jump up and down for three hours....

If that doesn't work, you need a shock.....

Nope, just trying to be more healthy. We're told so many conflicting things about what the hell you can or can't eat and what's good for you and what's not. It's unreal

Drinking cold water is supposed to suppress your hunger feelings thats why anorexics drink lots of ice cold water but the thing they dont realise is it actually slows down your metabolism.

Cold water slows your metabolism doesn't it? Bit of a nuisance if you're exercising to lose weight and then slow down your metabolism...

cold drinks on hot days give you an upset stomach. Italians seem to realise this but in the UK you cannot buy a bottle of water that is warmer than about 2 degrees celsius when you are out and about. It really annoys me. I buy it and then warm it up before I drink it.

My wife only drinks room temperature water. She fills a glass from the water dispenser on the fridge, which is nice and cold, and then warms it up on the top of the Aga. Hello? Why not just take it from the tap, dear?!!!

Very little is absorbed from the stomach apart from some alcohol maybe depending on how liquid your diet has been. Most absorption happens further down the digestive tract in the small/large intestine. However cold water could in theory supress digestion by cooling the stomach acid where reduced temperatures could cause enzymes to work less efficiently. But i think by the time the absorbtion occurs the water will have been reheated to around 37 and its initial temperature will have no effect. Of course if you drunk vast quantities of cold water some might get through still cold into the duodenum and cause some vasoconstriction. The outcome of all of this is probably that it will have very little effect and that I no longer care whether it does or not.
