Hospital super bugs - Europe/US??
Discussion
France has major problems too though they try to keep the stats quiet. Made a big deal in the press when the son of Gerard Depardieu went in for a routine knee ligament op and had to have his leg amputated to stop a superbug.
Hospitals are dangerous places to be avoided at almost all costs - statistics indicate that lots of people die in them shock horror.

Once upon a time in the UK we had lots of small town hospitals, they were clean and local staff took pride in them, all but the most serious procedures could be carried out by them. Then the beurocrats decided that have a small number of impersonal super hospitals would be more efficient, so they closed the local hospitals and concetrated the services in these super hospitals......which suprise suprise have turned out to be so vast as to be almost impossible to keep clean even if it weren't the case that the mass cleaning contractor staff hired to clean these places can't be ars*ed. Worse once these bugs are loose in these huge buildings there's vitually no way of routing them out.
During WWII they realised that small hospitals were easier to control and isolate from an infection point of view.....we seem to have forgotten that lesson.

I'm looking forward to catching this soon!

That would explain why the hospital I worked in (that was built in WWII) had just as bad an infection problem as any other
The bigger problem is the overprescription of antibiotics that then don't get finished, meaning that the bugs that manage to survive are more resistant. Proof (if ever it was needed) of Darwinian theory.
