I am sure some of you guys can help me out.
I am going to my bosses house warming and I want to bring a bottle/house warming present. Can you guys suggest any good wines as I have no clue about wines, would spend around £30 for a bottle.

Cheers
Ian

Pop into OddBins and have a chat with someone in there, they are normally extremely well versed and helpful.

For £30 I'd say you'd get something extremely good, in fact I'd be tempted to split that and get a bottle of red and a bottle of white for about £15 a pop.

Edited To Add: For pressents I have a bit of a taste for Australian wines, generally anything from the Clare Valley is really good, say a Chardonnay and a Shiraz.

Perhaps more importantly - does your boss have a clue about wines? £30 is a LOT for wine these days.

If he is into wine you can both please and impress him for less than that - go to a decent wine shop and ask for advice. If he doesn't know anything about wine, but is dumb enough to be impressed by cost - buy him a Chateau Bottled Burgundy - they are all expensive!

Barolo would be my choice at that price however, as said already go to a decent wine shop and have a chat. If you make it clear from the start how much you are spending they have no reason to push you towards something unnecessary.

Just what I was going to suggest - very nice and I think you can get it for about £14

I have those two wines in the rack, waiting in readyness for the end of my spell 'on the wagon'.

Agree with Barolo for red, Chablis 1er Cru for white

I got together with Mrs Puggit over a Chablis 1er Cru - be careful

At the better end - Barolo (the king of Italy)

No, buy one bottle. He may not plan to drink what you bring on that evening in any case. I can't recommend a single wine, so go to a good shop and ask them for help.

Mersault!!! My fave.

But I agree a couple of lovely £15 bottles will be the biz!
