It's simple, they're nob heads.

Liberty should be on the banned terrorist organisations list.

Im not sure the guy should be deported, he does after all face execution in the country he has fled from in the first place. Why can't our judicial system deal with him (e.g. Treason) and throw away the key ?

It has nothing to do with fundamental human rights.

These people are simply Marxists who are disguising their argument with new clothes.

I fail to understand how deporting someone who preaches hate against a country can be a violation of their human rights. What about the rights of people who get killed or injured when terrorists take the preacher's words to heart?

Devils Advocate mode on...

We live in a country where we have Free Speech. To me that means for people to say things which I don't agree with as well as for people to say things which I do agree with.

If they catch him actually doing something then fair enough, jail him... But just talking? It is this sort of idea which emcompasses the religious hatred bill which will mean comedians may be jailed for telling jokes about religion.....

Wouldn't it be safer to bang them up in our prisons for the rest of their lives?

Remember what happened when we exiled Napoleon the first time?

Talking to someone and telling them that blowing themsleves up to further the cause is a bit different to telling the one about the Catholic priest and rabbi

I would sleep safer knowing he was behind bars in the UK rather than in Egypt or somewhere training foreign terrorists about various ways to kill us in our own country.

Put into context, feeding prisoners for life isn't that expensive. Maybe they could be made to work like in the US.

Who cares?

If you took a murderer into your house to help him evade arrest you'd be banged up as an accomplice and yet our country seems happy to do that on an international scale.

We shouldn't have taken him in in the first place. I would of thought banging him up rather than relocating him would be in our interests.

Not really

If he is deported he will just be one of thousands of extremists preachers around the world. Inside the country he can indoctrinate muslim youths.

In that we are in total agreement.

He'd get about 12 months for incitement and be out again in 6. The Lebanese approach is much more final.

By "banging up" i meant in a Silence of the Lambs style solitary confinement for life, this is how we should deal with treasonous psychopaths. The guy has a social network in this country and as such poses more of a threat than your normal foreign terrorist, exiling him sounds like a bad idea.

Can't we send him to Guantanamo or something ?

Some people have this peculiar idea that freedom of speech equates being able to say anything, anywhere at any time. It's not. To use the popular example, freedom of speech does not give you the right to stand up and yell 'FIRE!' in the middle of a crowded cinema. This, if not exactly the same, is a similar premise.

In other words, kick the fer out and that's that.

Not if he is executed. I can't think for the life of me why people are worried about scum like this being executed if we send them back.
Why are they trying to escape the lifestyle of their homelands if they are that great? They themselves tolerate jack st. Only the other day two gay iranians were executed for being just that.

Send em back.

With Freedom of Speech comes responsibility, a responsibility to ensure that what you are saying does not cause undue distress to other peoples, so in a way the principle of "Free Speech" is somewhat of a misnomer.

The difficuly arises, therefore, in acheiving a balancing act between the rights of the individual to express themselves & the rights of the rest of Society.

For far too long I personally consider that the rights of the individual have been allowed to outweigh the interests of Society & as such I am now very happy that to a degree, such a balance has been redressed in favour of the majority.

How ironic that the whole basis of the Human Rights Act was in response to the suffering the Jews suffered at the hands of the Germans before & during WW2, but yet now various (state funded by way of the Legal Services Commision) Human Rights Solicitors (Cherie Blair anyone ?) would attempt to utilise such basic human rights as a shield against being held to account for the speech & actions of their detestable Clients, many of whom would wish to seek the destruction of the Democratically elected State of Israel (& this from someone who is CofE).

As for being deported, whilst it is right that the Government should ensure that if at all possible, such people are not subject to torture & death, such considerations should not in any way take precedence over & above the rights of the indegenious population to live in a free & just Society (particularly where such individuals have entered the Country illegally by way of other countries where they could have sought refugee status if they were really fleeing from persecution, as opposed to the Justice system of the country they were escaping from)

As for being executed my understanding is that the government is arranging with the countries of origin that any deportees will not be executed or tortured. Whether that will be enough for the measure to get past the Judges is another matter. Ever since the Human Rights act has been incorporated into British Law they have been on one long power trip.
