Can I just change Network without taking new phone?
Discussion
My current contract with T-Mobile expires in a couple of weeks. Now I'm more than happy with the SEP900 I have so don't need or particularly want another phone. But I do want to be able to carry non-used minutes over to following month wich T-Mobile don't do. I lost 40 mins to them last month, robbers.
I know I could sell the phone that I may/will have to take but I don't want the hassle, so, does anyone know if it's possible to just have a network contract?

No, I believe the SIM card used by a network only fits phones made for that network. Example: the physical space for the SIM card in the back of my Motorola V400 is different than one for another network's Motorola phone. Therefore, if you switch networks, you need a new phone(or a used one that was on their network).
Yes in short.
If its a single band phone you can only use Orange or T-Mobile as they transmit on one GSM frequency.
If its dual band or tri band then it will work with any uk network.
The only thing to be careful of is if its network locked (like my SPV) though this can be removed in seconds with the right software.

Jim, this isn't the case in the uk, all GSM phones have a standard SIM slot.
If the phone was originally bought from an independent retailer like Carphone Warehouse then they buy loads of generic handsets and use them with whatever tarrif you use. These should be unlocked and can be used on any network.

Or do this:
1) Get SE P900 unlocked (if required)
2) Take out a new contract with a provider that offers the tariff you want and get whichever handset is offered for free.
3) Flog newly received handset on ebay and walk away with £££ in your pocket
Exactly what I'm doing.
And all modern Sim cards are a standard size, and will fit every phone.

Ah, I see. Here, however, the SIM card slots are sized to network phones, including my GSM "world phone". I think I like your way better.
