Just listening to Jeremy Vine on Radio 2 :paperbag:

He is discussing sex shops at the moment (which I have no experience of personally), and somebosy has just been on to give their point of view.

First of all she tried to make th epoint that sex shops attract peadophiles, to which JV questioned why a peadophile would want to go into the one shop there would be no kids at all. She stuttered, ummed and arred, then said 'well, people who go to these shops are not middle-of-the-road are they?'.

FFS!!! :shout: WE ARE NOT ALL AVERAGE.

If we were all the same then I wouldn't be any better than this muppet. Now THAT'S a scary thought :yikes:

Yeah thats right, take the one thing which every human being loves - sex and demonise it.

There are some people who are just not qualified to hold an opinion, sadly.

Just a quick point, I didn't hear the program, but I heard a trail for it and I believe the girl being interviewed was 12 years old. Please take any points she may have made with this in mind.

Walking down the middle of the road is the best way to go into a sex shop in Soho anyway...pretending you're going somewhere else until you're level with the doorway then diving inside when noones looking...

Sorry, didn't pick up on that until after I posted.

Mind you, some people are emailing JV to say that the girl would make a wonderful politician. Don't we have enough self-righteous, interfeering busy-bodies running our country into the ground already?

PS: I'm not necessarily defending sex-shops, more the attitude that 'perceived normal behaviour' is the only way for us all to be.

These shops definately attract 'the wrong sort'...

For example, my girlfriend and I were in Harmony (corner of oxford street and tottenham court road) and some dirty low-life tried to nick her purse out of her bag.

We were shocked.

all though we were more shocked by the size of some of the toys on display!

I've been through this very same conversation viewing the clenched fist and forearm thats sold in Amsterdam.

Its alarming in itself that they are that size but whats even more alaraming is that there is a market for it...

Still, if it floats your boat, why not.

Why not? Is there a problem with them?... Adult shops for adults who choose to go into them and buy stuff...

I can't really cast a valid opinion as I have never been in one and don't live near one.

I certainly don't think that they should be banned as rather too many people seem keen on saying to anything which doesn't fit into their twee little worlds of 'lights off and missionary position every third Wednesday of the month'.

Theres one in Slough that started as a shack at the back of a greasy spoon.

You'd walk down the side and the chef would walk through the kitchen in his greasy apron to the shack and ask what you gentlemen required.

Now its a proper big sex shop but was far funnier as a greasy spoon/sex cave.
