hoping someone might have an idea.

We have a long channel water feature with a pump at either end.

all of a sudden, one of the pumps turns off after about 5-10 minutes of running perfectly.

I have taken it apart, cleaned it & wd40'd the impeller.

No change. both are working off the same power source.

any clues? Has me foxed & is a major PITA to change the pump.

I am assuming that one pump is "pushing" and one is "pulling" i.e. both are at different heights?

Is it possible the return pipe is getting clogged?

Have you swapped the pumps over to see if the same pump fails?

Could be the thermal cutoff that some of them have to stop it burning out when running dry.

no they both pull water up.

There seems to be adequate water to stop it running dry but I thught maybe some kind of cutout also. Its weird. I'll maybe try swapping the impellers.
