i am off to France/Bavaria on the bike tomorrow and i've mislaid my passport,it is no-where to be found. looks like grumpy will be going alone!!

Check the last place you would look first, that way you will find it

If you can get to London, you should be able to get a new one issued there and then.

Ring the passport people, you have to make an appointment now and it takes 4 hours from your appointment to getting your passport.

Normally have to wait a while in london I went to the wales office the next morning when Mrs MaskedAvenger let hers get out of date the day before we where off on hols

Take someone else's. How often do they get checked? You get busted, "Sorry, Honest mistake, pick up my mates instead".

Sorry, but if you have lost it then they will not issue you a new one the same day and will not give you an appointment for today either.

They are happy to do this if it is out of date as you have your existing passport to show them that you are entitled to one. If you have lost it, they require professional character witnesses, photographs signed by solicitors etc, as they don't want any old Jonny truning up demanding a new passport.

This happened to me last year and no matter how hard I tried they wouldn't budge, and I missed Eurohoon because of it.

I had a similar experience earlier this year when I thought that I had lost my savings book. I had visions of someone making off with my Corrado fund. After a few deep breaths and calming down, I methodically went through my usual hiding places and found it. It is probably because you are stressed. I thought I'd lost my Ray Bans yesterday and came back four hours later to the first place I looked and found them.
