I need a new hi-fi - advice or suggestions please.

I need a new hi-fi to go in the library. It needs to be very compact and discreet, and hopefully smart and aesthetically pleasing to look at.

I have been looking at the Nakamichi Soundscape series, but does anyone have any other suggestions? It does not need to produce huge volume, just nice clear sound and play CD's and the radio.

Another vote for the Linn Classik. Go to a proper shop and have a listen to a few.

Definitely Cyrus if it fits the budget. Looks great, sounds great and upgradeable - you can keep spending money by adding new bits

if you are after something less high end Denon do some very decent micro systems.

Cyrus is too big. Looking at Bose, but I think that is too big too. It needs to fit onto a bookshelf and not have loads of cables.

Bose is wicked specially with digital speakers but you may not have the space plus cables

I suggest a mini Ipod with the Altec Lansing fold away speakers. 1000 songs on a little gadget that is an alarm clock too all plugged into a speaker set that sounds larger than it is. All for about 250 quid. Bargain
