AutoCAD help needed!

Hey all, I’ve drawn a 400m long cross-section in AutoCAD and now need to reduce its length in proportion to its height in order to get it onto an A3 page efficiently. Basically I want to do one of 2 things:

1. Create a view port with a different horizontal and vertical scale (This would be the ideal solution).
2. Stretch the profile to some factor of its original size (In a crude way I will then be able to have different horizontal and vertical scales). I’ve already tried the “stretch” command but it just seems to want to move the object around instead of altering its vertical/horizontal size ratio, am I doing something wrong?

Why not just use 'Scale' and make it, say, 90% of original size?

Create a block out of your existing drawing. Then insert this block into a new blank drawing - you will be prompted for X scale and Y scale factors and an angle of rotation.

Because I wanted to alter the length of the drawing along the X axis and not the Y, If there is a way you can scale the two axis independently that would be even better.

Now lets see if there are any other proposals while I’m off voting for a cake!
