I think you overestimate the effectiveness of military photographic satellites. The one thing they CAN'T do is watch you all the time. Satellites take 90 minutes to circle the earth. Each time they circle the earth, the earth rotates underneath them. If a military satellite passed over your house yesterday, it won't pass over your house again for probably another week. Even with multiple satellites carrying out these passes, it is usually days between passes. Even then, they only have about ten minutes maximum to look down on any one spot of land.
Finally, they are pretty much foxed by cloud cover and even if they use infra-red or radar to penetrate the cloud, the detail is much poorer than normal visual imaging.
Of course, radio, TV and telephone eavesdropping satellites are used all the time to listen in to radio transmissions.
More invidious would be the use of CCTV by police and local authorities. However, in the current climate, you are going to see very few objections to this technology.
