I'm surprised no one has started a thread on this yet so let me be the first to congratulate Ms Radcliffe for finally winng "a big one" at a major event.

Contrasts with the flood of messages when she dropped out of the Olympic Marathon last year.

I agree. Congratulations.

Pity that large gang of losers she called team mates couldn't have spent their lottery and sponsorship money on getting better at their sport rather than on nice cars and houses.

I wonder what excuses they will have this time? Time we pulled the plug and funded sports where we do stand a chance and the participants care about winning.

Watched nearly none of the championship, but noticed Radcliff was the first Gold GB won. What's that all about?

Should be one of the power nations in athletics? No?

I only watched the last couple of days of the event. I agree that the World Chanmpionships do not have the same attraction as the Olympics but they are the next most important event for track and field athletes.

The weather earlier in the week was absolutely foul and I think the whole thing looked thoroughly miserable.
