Who'd win........
Discussion
Neither have anything the other wants. Neither could attack the other as they're too far away and the mounted police horses can't swim that far. Am I right in saying no-one has ever invaded Australia because no-one wants it?
PS Just kidding...or am I...

might be a bit difficult to launch a suprise invasion from either side.
Both rely on the US for protection so I guess it would just end up as another US civil war
anyway for comparison
Canada (cold and miserable frozen country noone sane would want to invade)
Total Military Force
Active: 52,300
Reserves: 36,900
www.fas.org/main/content.jsp?formAction=297&contentId=186
Air force has about 120 odd CF/A 18s and a few hawk trainers
Australia (hot and dry desert country noone sanewould want to invade)
Total Military Force
Active: 53,650
Reserves: 20,300
www.fas.org/main/content.jsp?formAction=297&contentId=194
Air Force has about 70 odd F/A-18s about 30 F-111s (only about half are operational at any one time though) and some hawk trainers.

Whoever attacked would lose. Neither side has sufficient naval or air power to move a large enough force for a succesful invasion of the home nation.
Man for man they'd be out numbered (lack of transports both air & sea based). Aircraft to aircraft they'd be out numbered (lack of land bases in range & no naval air power to speak of) & would be lucky to get significant numbers of men on the ground as the defending air force in company with the defending navy would tear the heart out of the attacking force before they got a single soldier landed.

Ah but remember Austrlia has a powerful ally in USA and Canada has a powerful ally in France. Given that the two larger allys don't like each other very much and are both nuclear powers I can see the potential for an interesting conflict.
Australia v. Canada.... spirals into USA vs. European Union. Now that's more like it.

Hey, I am not an Australian, but there are a lot of reasons to invade it! Not only is it BIG, but its also quite a nice place - but thats not the main reason - it has some of the biggest ore deposits in the world as well as being one of the (if not THE biggest) exporter of uranium..... they have some top stuff just under that desert and its worth a fortune.....
Plenty of good reasons to invade if you ask me!

You're also forgetting that Australia has massively more trained land forces, namely Skippy, and a highly trained naval operation - Flipper.
Cnada only has that mountie, his dog and a Buick Riviera to fight such a war using bottles of Canada Dry ginger ale as missiles.
Surely you're not forgetting Canadas legions of highly trained attack Moose? (or is it Meese?).

Maybe they could find a neutral country to hold it in?
Anyway, the Australians would win because they're good at sport. War does count as a sport doesn't it?

Do moose have knuckles, much as camels have toes
