Moving to Plymouth in 2 weeks - stuff to see/do?

Starting afresh down in Plymouth :hurl::hehe:

So whats good to see and do and whats good to avoid like the plague?

Any natiuve plymites or people that know the local city wish to advise a gh0st in need?

Plymouth is a great place, probably my favourite city, and would move there if I had the chance to. I spent many a year there when in the RN.

Obviously the nightlife is very lively, buy from what I can remember not that much trouble

From memory St budeaux (or frigate alley) is not a very pleasant place to be, but the barbican is absolutely lovely. Lots of history, lots to do, infact, a very nice place to be.

Plymouth is probably the most dangerous place i've ever seen on a fri/sat night, you're taking your life in your hands walking down Union street!

Plymouth, barbican is cool. Who said it was dangerous? Try going out and about in Luton or Bedford. I felt a lot safer in Plym.

Around and about though- try going over to Torpoint and drive out to Whitsand Bay/Freathy must be about 3 miles of golden sand.
Kit Hill up by Callington gives you a good view and Caradon hill over where the TV mast is- good views too.
Tavi is a nice place too, and that road that goes from Tavi over to Gunnislake & Callington is a nice drive out.
Theres a great pub at Horsebridge too.

St John just outside Torpoint is where I reside, look out for the vehicles. Pop in for a chat if you're over this way.

I suggest getting yourself a surfboard.

That'll be half a yard 'o hot dog!

The Jasperiser burger is good too.

Plymouth is great, people are generally friendly & plenty of sun.

Union Street is good fun. The further up, the dodgier it gets. Still much better than it was 10 years ago. You do get some aggro but you do everywhere. Barbican area is great for a night out & quite nice in the day. Avoid Southway or North Prospect (affectionately known as Swilly) as they are full of scummers. Mutley Plain is OK but has a bit of a manky rep but imo is fine.

Lots of students in term time which isn't a bad thing

Will try & remember more, it's a great city so have fun
