Help tracing a scumbag

I have a work colleague who has suffered at the hands of a dodgy landlord.
They want to serve him with a CCJ, but do not know where he lives. All his post went to the flat they rented (he picked it up weekly, with the rent), and they only have a name, and a mobile number to go on.
Anyone got any suggestions as to how to get hold of this (already suggested electoral role, but it is likely to be the flat), or 'looking for a challenge'?

Err, sorry if I have missed something here. But the landlord wants to issue a CCJ against this person, yeah? But its his address - so the CCJ will be against someone at his address (admittedly it cant be used against anyone anymore).....

The land registry will give you full details of ownership etc for £2 (I did a check on something the other week for my dad) and that should give you enough information.
Another optioon would be to have his phone tracked, can be done reasonably cheaply and online as well.

We use landreg.gov.uk at work. If you use a credit card you can search online or, you can fax [form available online] to the HMLR office that deals with the property [check on the website, not always logical] and they turn it round within a day or so.
Regarding tracking the mobile, was there not a tread a while back that gave the web address? Just add mobile number and there he is [mind you must say it was a couple of miles out when I tried it].

You may find that the Land Registry search reveals that the landlord resides at the rental address. In fact, it sounds like all paper trails will lead to the rental address.
I'll bet he either has a pre-pay mobile or his mobile phone bills come to the rental address. Have you checked for the latter?
This all sounds very dodgy. Perhaps a call to your local friendly tax office might help? At the very least it will tip them off about possible tax evasion as all this 'cloak & dagger' stuff smells of tax evasion to me.

Go to www.landregisteronline.gov.uk/lro/servlet/TitleSearchServlet and put in the house details, then use a credit card for £2. Some mobile tracking things can find a phone to within a few metres, I think you can (or used to) be able to get a pack with a CD from the Carphone Warehouse for £20 or so.
If he is the proverbial dodgy landlord, does the property comply with all necessary rules and regs? If not, why not just report the property [I admit I'm not sure who to, maybe Council Environmental Health?] and let them track him down. It sounds as if he would ignore the CCJ anyway and your colleague then has to decide how much money to spend to get satisfaction without necessarily getting his money back.

Yep, I have had big problems with tenants in the past, but this guy just has dodgy written all over him.

Sparks, we use enquiry agents to track down people. The guy we use got a fantastic result for us the other day - we don't ask how he does it! We had a failed business address and a property that had been sold and the agent found a new address for the guy. We paid around £300 incl VAT for the service.
