Does anyone read Viz?

Viz can usuallly be relied upon to make me cry with laughter. Mrs Sparky has been known to take my freshly purchased copy off me as she finds my guffaws and sobs embarassing in public, particularly on aircraft. :D

The toilet humour in it is indeed absolutely puerile and were similar stuff to be posted on here, the threads would be locked and there would be much tutting amongst 'respected members'

So, before I go on about it , does anyone else read it?

Postman Plod, Roger Mellie, Tommy & His Magic 4rse, Sid the Sexist. My fave is 8 Ace.......

Might have to get a copy tomorrow....

The Profanisaurus is the finest piece of literature, ever written.

A Trap Pirouette - The single 180 degree twirl, performed by a fellow when walking into a toilet cubicle, only to find that it has been the subject of a dirty protest, or has been pebbledashed with arse gravy, or is stuffed full of bangers and mash......

Genius.

There's a lot of thought goes into the profannisoarus and the euphanisms for bodily functions and sexual acts can always raise a smile.

But my own favourite characters are The Fat Slags. The detail that goes into both the drawings and the stories is brilliant.

Simply reading this thread has made me chuckle and want to go out and buy a copy. I haven't read it since my student days. I was always particularly fond of Roger Melly and the very thought of Buster Gonads, well...

Brian Trousers just ran around saying "Ooer" in his underpants as his keks had mysteriously disappeared in every scene.

Of course the implication was that he was some kind of pervert or sex offender... which really shouldn't make me laugh but does.

Much though I've enjoyed Viz over the years , it appears now to have become a victim of it's own success. It used to be published every other month and was something to look forward to. But since they took to publishing it monthly, the content (with one or two exceptions) IMO isn't as good and consistent as it used to be.

In my last copy there were about 8 pages of ads for saddo sex chat lines and online gambling sites

The cover price has now crept up to £2.50, so these are not the cheap laughs they used to be.
