How is your local water supply??

I live in the North West our water used to be the best.
Straight from Ullswater in the lake district.
Nowadays it smells heavily of Chlorine.It doesn't taste like it used too.
I have had to invest in a Brita filter and if it gets much more like the local swimming baths I will have to invest in a more serious system.

I drink water every day dont like squash and juice is just to sweet.

What is your water quality like and doe sit just taste chemical these days????

I just keep a bottle of ordinary tap water in the fridge. I find that it's just as good as bottled water when it's properly chilled. I'm NW too (preston) and haven't noticed the chlorine taste. Maybe it's something added at the local teatment plant?

Here on the east side it's fine - but we get it from the Pennine ressers.

No noticed much change but it has been a little brown recently. I'm in Liverpool so our comes from North Wales.

I like chlorine, I know there's nowt nasty livin' in it. I like flouride, 43 and never had a filling. I like tap water.

Jessica, The Chlorine dosage is very finely metered and monitored, after which a metered dose of Sulphur gas is added to "kill" the smell and taste of the Chlorinated water before it leaves the treatment plant.

There are however some "natural" events which means that a higher dosage may have to be applied from time to time for public health, but these should be short term.

I presume that this is a regular occurrance and not a "one off". You shouldn't be able to detect it so easily.........................Complain to them!!!

In Kernow, our bills generally pay for 90% of the tourist industry and it's hydro-decadence. It brings in 100% of the money into the region, thank god! (apart from 99% of the money foxtrot oscars off to Spain).

Sometimes get a bit of chlorine in there but there is a low mineral load. As the geology is varied, the local supplies vary according to resevoir. Local bore water through slate and fine sandstone is exceptional.
