How become they found out who they were so quickly? I mean with tens of thousands of people milling around London at the time... how? Even studying the CCTV footage would take days. IRA bombings took years of very detailed detective work yet these people were found in less than 72hrs! Amazing. and NO I am not one of these conspiracy type people.

Apologies for a lack of taste/discretion, but according to the Sunday Times, they found a severed head at the bus bombing (Hasib Hussain). This is a common effect of a bomb strapped to someone.
Combined with the witness reports (of an agitated, olive skinned man), word was put to the other teams to look for similar injuries close to the heart of the explosion. Which were duly found.
Also at the Tavistock Square scene, they found Hussain's drivers licence (with photo), and documents naming other bombers. The final clue was that Hussain's parents had reported him missing that evening. He had told them he was visiting London, and their description of his clothing matched.
The teams who were studying CCTV tapes were instructed to look for a group of four broadly Asian people, perhaps carrying rucksacks, and one matching Hussain's description. Once the crucial image was identified at Kings Cross, all the pieces were falling into place.

It was extremely easy because two of the bombers' families rang up to report their sons missing. Given a quick profiling, address check, etc. they knew that they were onto something.
All very sad and absolutely staggering that the families of the bombers just had no idea whatsoever - they were reporting their sons missing out of genuine concern that they had become victims of the bombs. It is a very strange world.....

Didn't return tickets used to be cheaper than singles? Even with that argument though you'd wonder why at that point saving money would be a concern! There's a lot of speculation, hearsay and controversy doing the rounds (to be expected...)

Most likely the 5th (or 6th etc) man did the planning, purchased tickets etc.
Not paying for the car park might have raised unwanted attention before they even got onto the train too. They would need to appear totally normal to pull this sort of attack off.

Except that they bought a 7 day parking ticket and the police found a number of primed bombs in the car. That resulted in the reported controlled explosions- which were used to "pop" the detonators off the bombs.
Here lies the theory of the fifth bomber, ie, why the weekly ticket and why leave these bombs in the car..
They went to cause max casualties,i suppose if there had been an alert that would of shut down the tubes and buses they would of had an alternative plan with an escape route hence the return tickets and parking ticket,the extra bombs might of been for an alternative target in another city on the same day just incase they had to abandon the London bombs thru fear of getting caught?
I watched a programe on Hasharon Prison in Isreal last week,they interviewed a couple of suicide bombers who had been caught on their way to a job,,the young bombers were ashamed they had been caught and serving a sentance and even a year later were firmly commited to wishing they had carried out their attacks undetected and with maximum casualties.

Yep. The night before the bombings I'd been having a look at a website called crisisphotos or something, what I hadn't realised was that the photos were uncensored, Never seen such before, never want to again. But the above was repeated and the thing that struck home to me was the expression on the bombers face; abject surprise - really shook me up especially when my mate rang me with the news about london the next day. Not recommended.

ts had ID on them, and cctv is far more widespread than during the IRA hey days, also the advances in computer technology speed up the processing of cctv footage from different areas and the colation of evidence from different areas.

Many people were reported missing that day. Many of them also asian. Some are still missing. This isn't how they were found.
According to the BBC, IIRC, at least 3 of them were already on a list of dubious characters held by the intelligence services. One of them, Mohammed Khan, had been investigated my MI5 and deemed to not be a threat for whatever reason.
So, a relatively simple matter of collecting all identification found at the scenes, and if names of the dead include some guys already on a watchlist, chances are you've found the culprits. Then look for them on CCTV and once you've found that, its easy to work out who the 4th guy was with them.
Finally as someone eluded to already, there is forensic evidence as to which person at each scene was carrying the bomb. I'd expect that this includes traces of exposive material on fingers, clothes etc. (if you can match up the parts)
Also as to the thousands of hours of CCTV, there have been a lot of people working on it including Scotland Yard, MI5 who have been working 24 hours a day on it (in shifts) and probably special branch. And officers not normally involved in anti terrorist duties have been borrowed to work on it.
It's a credit to our intelligence services that
