Travel Insurance (that pays out!)

Renewal time again and I have done all the searches (moneysupermarket etc.) and there are loads of seemingly good deals. I have never needed to claim on a policy yet and all I need is a standard annual multi trip european policy (poss with winter sports).

Can anyone recommend a decent company (not just the cheapest) who will actually help you and pay out when you need them?

We use Tesco. It costs us about £120 pa for a family of 6. On average we've made claims of over £800 pa (we travel a lot). Never had any trouble claiming and our premium is unchanged! As such, I'm well impressed with them.

The one that comes free with a Lloyds bank Gold account. Can't praise it highly enough. My parents were in France when they rolled a hired van full of furniture. My dad got an infection, it went mental, turned out he had leukiemia (sp). Ended up under sedation in a French hospital. The travel insurance people sorted it out perfectly, even getting a french speaker to phone the hospital every day for updates (neither myself or my Mum speak enough french to talk in medial language)
Eventually he recovered enough to be air ambulanced back to the UK. All the french bills were paid quickly and efficently.
If something bad happens, you don't want to worry about the money side, and they handled it all. Not bad for an account freebie.

I'd recommend it to anyone.
