Definitely left. Take it slowly until you find it confortable and it should be OK.
A lot of classical repertoire has crossing hands so it is a useful technique to learn. Beware of clashes between hands and/or clothing when jumping a arm over the other. Sometimes when notes are close with each other it can be tricky.
Edited to add: lovely piece BTW

Aye, I do love some of Beethoven's works, particularly his Sonatas. I can already play Moonlight, Pathetique, Fur Elise, I just trawl around looking for other 'simple' stuff to learn and hack away at it bit by bit
Learning these Sonatas is a never-ending process . . .
?¿? All of the Moonlight or just the first movement ?¿?
PoD, when you hit the 4th line of page 11, if you follow the editor's advice and keep to the same fingering for each pattern, it will feel natural.
Base notes, fifth finger, then over the top to hit the accented note with the third followed by the second finger. Stick to the same each time. The third finger is handy because it's nice and strong for the accent.
If you're doing this sort of stuff, have you tried some of Chopin's Nocturnes? Very satisfying to play and beautiful melodies.
O/T - I was watching that programme last night on being a concert pianist. (very naughty because I should have been getting an early night). Lang Lang is AMAZING - can't believe the emotion he pours into his music.
