Why astrology must be total cobblers
Discussion
I wandered out to my local pub to kill some time over a pint, with my Internet gadget 'thingie'. I also bought a newspaper and out of sheer boredom I read my stars and it says this:
"You can't wait for a meeting. You will have to return to work later on, with a smile on your face. But you are so full of energy so don't burn yourself out."
Anyone who knows me will confirm that the above couldn't be more opposite! As such, I don't think I'll calling Justin's starline, to find out more.

OK, let's disect that. "You can't wait for a meeting". The first thing you did when you got back was come online for a virtual meeting with your virtual friends.
"You will have to return to work later on, with a smile on your face." When you have scanned the other threads on PH, and laughed at the wit displayed therein, you will relucnatly return to work, smiling at the prose of your "friends".
"But you are so full of energy so don't burn yourself out." You drank a quantity of flammable spirits - stay away from sources of ignition.
Trust the stars...

On Tuesday morning, for the first time ever, American scientists will fire a missile into a comet. Many people find this worrying. NASA freely confess that they do not know if they are going to create a hole the size of a house... or a football stadium. This brutal attempt to find out what the comet is made of is like examining a flower by hitting it with a hammer. There are real fears that the impact will alter the orbit of the comet. That may sound trivial... but if you're an astrologer, it's very serious. Comets are crucial celestial symbols; important hands on the cosmic clock. To move one of these out of position, even by a small amount, could be to upset a delicate balance and change our universe forever. The Americans insist it won't happen. Their missile, they insist, is merely, 'the equivalent of a mosquito running into an airliner'. Let us hope they are right.
Crikey, they might have broken the horoscopes

There was a famous experiment done a while ago where they gave a bunch of people their star signs and said some are real and some are fake.
After a month or week or however long it waas they asked how many had come true, everyone said yes! it was exactly right, and yet they all been the exact same description for each one.
never underestimate peoples gullability

I definitely wouldn't bother - allegedly he's half cut most of the time and couldn't read an atrological star chart if his life depended on it.
Kirsty - Taurus, and therefore immune to stench of bullsh*t.

This is hillarious!.
satch said:Wow - what type of apple, I'll go and get one now and see what I can predict .... Like "a twelfth of the population won't see a doctor today!"
Patrick Moore ... "the gravitational pull of even jupiter on you when you are born is about the same as this apple - total mumbo jumbo"

Is there not a trend among quantum physicists that, given that the whole universe is bound up together at the sub-atomic level, there might be something in this after all?
Sounds quite feasable to me although I think it's a bit selfish of Mystic Meg not to give the quantum pysicists a few pointers.
I expect she's protecting her interests. Or she could be full of shit

"Something in this" is rather a long way from proving that a whole industry is valid and even further from proving astrology as a scientific fact.
There is no doubt that certain aspects of our existence are irefutably bound up with "cosmic connections". We are made from matter originally formed in stars. The ability of the earth to sustain life is inextricably linked to the influence of the sun. Our lives are to a certain extent affected by the earth's changing seasons.
However, the orbit of a fairly small (on a cosmic scale) piece of rock hundreds of millions of miles away and its juxtaposition against the background stars has no effect whatsoever on whether I should ask my boss for a pay rise!
