Started my summer job today after finishing my first year of mechanical engineering. I am working for Johnson Matthey Catalysts in the CVS labs working on vehicle emission testing, particularily on big smelly diesels (petrol is next door :()
Got to do a pre-conditioning run on the dynometer today in a landrover freelander, which is the first time I've ever done anything like that, so that was pretty cool, and different.
Its good fun and most importantly good experience, which is something im lacking.
Dont even know how much im getting paid yet, but there is a lurvely receptionist so Im happy :D

Is it me or is it much harder to get a job when you're a uni student? Always had employment when i've wanted it until now! 
Next year i'll be applying for placements but as i've only just done my first year it was too soon for this summer. Ahh well, already got a job offer for Christmas, not that it's going to appease my bank manager much.

Drove a 40 minute preconditioning cycle (2 back to back 20 minute cycles) in a very rare car today!
I was driving 1 of 8 (apparantly) renault vel satis's in Britain (3 of which are at my work) today. Quite a nice car acutally, a strong engine, nice to drive, and a nice car to spend time in. Ugly as sin though, and who would want a big french car! obviously not many people

You realise you've given everyone the name of your empoloyer plus the details of a specific person who works there (who would answer incoming calls), whom you have a crush on! Me thinks you're brave.

Coming up to me 3rd year.
If you only working in the summer make sure you fill in your student declaration form. Saves paying that pesky income tax stuff.
I'm working in the dullest office ever doing CAD draugthing, boring as sin but 500 odd quid a week and no tax is pretty good!! Off to Thailand in 2 weeks, yay!

The vel satis has to be one of the ugliest cars ever, and yeah I am working in royston, which is nice and handy!
I dont think they'd appreciate you asking for the fit one when you ring!!
Today was a bit slow really, but at least I know know what I get paid for sitting around on my bum!
