Is anyone else here known by their middle name or one of them ?
When I have children in no way will I lumber them with the burden of calling them anything but their first name to save them having to explain this concept to all and sundry throughout their lives some of whom just don't get it.
You have no idea what a PITA this can be at times, mostly dealing with online accounts, call centres or opening/applying for anything new.
Even had trouble with producers/NIPs in the past where the insurance document is in my middle name only but V5/DL lists full name, real coppers usually get it but as for the support monkeys
Reason I brought this up was that I just had some major grief dealing with 'Dave' from Colchester who I'd put money on as actually being 'Davinderpal' from Calcutta.

Yup me, I've now got to the point where I answer to either. It is a total PITA though your right.
I'm absolutely sick of people asking me why I don't like my first name. Its a really stupid family tradition. I'm guessing that by the point I have kids I will be so bitter I will inflict it on them as well.
On the other hand it does make my name R. John Irving, which being an Asimov fan makes me feel like a robot.
If you don't know what I'm on about just be glad your not as much of a nerd as me.

I'm currently reading Asimov's "The Complete Robot" which is a collection of every one of his stories involving robots. R. Lunarscope

I have used my middle name ever since the beginning of Uni.
But for all official documents I use my first name still, and I also use my first name when with people who knew me before Uni.
Sadly my parents went a bit crazy when they picked my first name (or rather my mum did)
What , "Jag" ?

Me and my Dad have the same initials, which frequently confuses the postman. The irritating thing is, it means that I have to drop my middle initial so that we don't open each other's bank statements. But I'm Mr. S.J. Dawson and want to be known as such.
For years as a kid I hated my first name and wanted to be known by my middle name (my Mum still does this with hers). Now I'm not so sure - there are loads of people called James but not as many called Sam, and that makes me stand out a bit, makes me easier for people to recognise.
Still think SJ Dawson sounds better than S Dawson though.

I have a similar issue except I have two Surnames...
My legal name is on important things like mortgage and passport.
My 'step-name' which I grew up with (due to parents seperating when I was young) is on pretty much everything else - most people wouldnt even know that I am legally called something different.

I use my middle name and have done for about 14 years... I just decided when at primary school that I wanted something different..
I still use my "real" name for all things official, but am known as my middle name...
