I have Die Hard 2 on in the background and have just seen the aircrash, why does it blow up like it's full of fuel from nose to tail and it explodes from the inside of the cabin out?

They have already said they are low on fuel and flying on vapour. Hollywood  eh?

Any others you can think of?

fuel vapour is acutally more explosive than fuel. hence why the american MOAB bombs go boom rather than bang. and avtur (aviation fuel, turbine) is about the same as diseasle to burn

You can ignite 100 octance LL (hah!) aviation spirit
with bad language and/or not talking to it nicely.
Go anywhere near it with a lighter and there will be
a queue of people wanting to punch your lights out.

AVTUR (jet fuel) is slightly less flammable, but the
whole lighter/queue/slapping thing still applies.

I suspect you're thinking about the gloop they used
to put in the Blackbird.......

I had a small bottle of AVTUR for a while (don't ask ) and ran a zippo on it, it was quite tricky as it burnt so cleanly it was hard to tell when it was lit.

Really? - AVTUR is near as dammit paraffin, with
a bit of refinement. I'm not up on Zippo fuel
requirements.....

Well, paraffin isn't that easy to ignite without a wick, and lying on snow would make it a lot harder. Especially with a wind. I don't reckon it would have worked unless possibly it was a model plane leaking nitro/methanol, but that would take off a lot quicker, so he'd have had to look snappy about it.

Stupid explosions in films... no matter what kind of explosive the bomb was made of, what actually explodes is a load of petrol. But it explodes nice and slowly so the hero can outrun it, even when hindered by having a lass slung across his shoulders and a gunshot wound in the leg. Even grenades are made of slow petrol, and never produce any shrapnel.

Explosions and films, what a combination! Of course a car will explode (every time) when it goes over a cliff.

Or what about the helicopter or plane, in the cheap movies, that explode when it's just out of sight (over the mountain, usually.)

And most explosions are just far enough away to kill the baddie and knock the hero of his feet.

The film Last Action Hero, with Arnie, takes the piss out of this Hollywood phenomenon, with cars exploding on the slightest impact

Er, surely that would be the one you get when you let liquid helium vaporise in a weak sealed container?

For me, Hollywood lost all credability after the Channel Tunnel Helicopter scene in Mission Impossible. What a sack of cack that was. And it had Tom Cruise in it, too. Must follow him around...
