anyone know about fridge/freezers ?

Hi crew!

ok, we have a built in fridge freezer, about a week ago it started making a kind of buzzing/grinding noise.

Yesterday is stopped working, still has power but doesnt cool.

Question is.....

a callout is £80, if they cant fix it then that money is wasted. Am I better off cancelling the callout & just ordering a new fridge & finding someone who can fit it, its in an awkward space. cheers

compressors knackered but the sound of it. Unless it's an expensive one chances are you are better off buying a new one.

Get one with a tropicalised compressor if you can - these last longer as they are designed to operate in hot weather.

Another problem, sorry challenge, is that it might be an older model with outlawed refrigerant, in which case the repairer won't be able to touch it at all (as we found out when ours went on the blink)
The upside is that new ones are relatively cheap...
