Went to Leeds Castle last night for their annual Classical music and fireworks concert.
Cracking day out, sitting with my family in the great outdoors, eating drinking, listening to the BBC Big Band. Then on came the Liverpool Philarmonic with the Brighton Festival Chorus conducted by Carl Davis, narrated by John Suchet with guest singers the Operababes. :lick:
They performed a fantastic set of music, before doing the proper stuff. 1812 with fireworks and big guns, then the songs of the sea followed by english classics.
15,000 people, illminated by candles, singing Rule Britannia, Jerusalem and Land of Hope and Glory, George and Union flags flying. Total patriotism of the like that Tony bLiar wants to ban.
When we finished to a song conducted by a conductor in a Union flag jacket, you could feel the pride as we all stood proud and sang our national anthem.
Makes me proud of my English heritage.

OMFG - you just cannot come out with this kind of stuff, don't you know that you and your kind were responsible for slavery, colonialism, the Irish potato famine, African poverty, murdering William Wallace, not to mention forcing the Scots and Welsh to live in cold, rainy parts of this island. I do quite a few of these "muddy field" type dates, and must confess that after playing the second-half music (Rule Britannia, Jerusalem, Pomp & Circumstance) countless times, I still enjoy it and it's still a buzz when you have a good crowd there GasBlaster said:

in right that was us, mate - so you'd better lock up your daughters, smartish, 'cos the boys in red white and blue haven't finished empire-building yet! 
So nice of Missy Dynamite to remind us all that the English are responsible for Africas problem because of the slave trade. Personally, when I get a minute to get bitter I intend to sue the Italian state for enslaving the English during the Roman invasions and the French for the 1066 thing, oh and the Danes for the viking invaders when they ruined our gene pool in the north and gave us all tight tendons in our hands.
