New Paramedic Roadside repairs!

Just hearing about the new training and diagnosis work to be done by a new breed of Paramedic brought a few images to mind:-
Will these new heroes be like a medical version of the AA/RAC?
I have images of Heart Bypass's done with Hosepipe and a sewing kit as a "It'll last till you can get in to a real Hospital" type fix.
Will Ambulances be fitted with Spec lift type camp-beds at the back for a quick drop off at the hospital?
Popping someones Ribcage and standing back sucking air thru teeth and exclaiming, "Nah sorry it's one of thos e new one's, you'll have to get round the main Hospital, we don't carry the parts"!
