he caused the failure of rover, he took everyone's confidence away from the company, and for that he MUST be punnished. this is the least we can do to him. he lost thousands of people their jobs, and a car company the country should have been proud of.
And some people who are very knowledgable about cars......

I'm surprised these over-educated lefties know anything about him; they should be listening to obscure French guitar music on their record players, not watching nasty car programmes.

The man is an egotistical, irresponsible tosser, who has so far failed to grasp the concept of how much influence he has, or how much damage he can cause.
PRs practically polish his shoes with their tongues. He can do no wrong. He is 'the untouchable'.
He cannot drive or handle a car properly, and he seems to forget the fact that motoring hack's opinions are, indeed, opinions and not biblical. He also forgets that design and styling are also subjective. He drives gratuitous nails into many an auto coffin when it is completely unnecessary, just because he doesn't like the flappy paddles, for instance.
He also speaks like a pompous arse.
However, I have a unique respect - nay, even liking for the man, despite his arsiness. I find his over-the-top ramblings strangely compelling, and find it fascinating how he knows EXACTLY where the line is, and then takes one step over it.
He's a prat, but I wouldn't get rid of him. I guess the motoring industry will always have a place for him, and no matter what he is like and what his views are, he's certainly done more with his life than most, even if he has been a little bit lucky.
To be talked about in such a way is a credit to his success, and he certainly paves the way in life for countless students who will do sod all with their useless degrees and never rock a single boat.

Indeed. Who is ever going to do anything with these petitions anyway? No-one will ever read them; a total waste of bandwidth, giving nothing more than momentary self-satisfaction to those who sign.
The only purpose it seems to serve is gathering the email addresses of those who sign....hmmm....
This is only a petition set up by an individual on a petition site - make a further point if you see fit by contacting the university itself - maybe when they get a bit of disruption they may take notice. Check online for other number/emails if you please. YEAHHH!!!!!

I suggest we all email the organiser of the petition with a few comments such as this:
What on earth has it got to do with you guys as to whether Jeremy gets a degree or not.
Good luck to him, he is entertaining and seems to be fairly intelligent and likeable.
Why not get a life and do something useful?

Don't hold back, tell us what you REALLY think
Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but it pees me off when they use it as an excuse to slag off cars. Some prize cuts:
"Concern for the environment! Driving is not something that should be promoted!"

I think Clarkson sticks his head above the parapet a lot and as such is only bound to get plenty of flak in the same way we hurl as much shit as we can at George Monbiot.
However, unlike the Clarkson-bashers, we check the quality of the shit before we throw it.
I have never seen such a bunch of inaccurate cobblers in a petition. Clarkson didn't bring down Rover - Rover's management did. Clarkson isn't 'unethical' and 'irresponsible', he's just at the top of a profession that encourages outspokenness.
I for one am glad that Clarkson has got as far as he has and is as popular is he is. Whilst his fixation with the military is somewhat eyebrow-raising, and not all his opinions might be to everyone's taste, it's a miracle that, in this world of nannying PC regulations and a BBC that acts like a puppet for the government's propaganda machine, we have a man who openly criticises them very publicly and raises a laugh while he's at it. And believe me, there's nothing more publicly binding than a good laugh.
As long as Clarkson is allowed a show, we will have a counter-argument. I must admit that I do cringe when he raves about excessive fuel consumption, or takes cheap shots at environmentalist arguments that have been carefully and sombrely put together. However, as soon as he is ousted from the BBC to some cable network repeats hell-station, we will look less like a crowd and more like a small outcrop of dangerous nutters.
Believe me when I say that, as motorists, we need Clarkson.
