Credit card fraud for idiots!

I received a credit card statement today for a card i've not used in over 10 months :yikes:
The odd thing about this was that I was showing as being £45.92 in credit on an account which should have a zero balance.
It would appear that some 1/2bred has used my account details somehow to place a transaction with a company called eurobet, then a coule of days later the money and an extra 50odd quid went back into the account :confused:
I called the fraud dept of the credit card provider who said that it's not uncommon for people to try and bet on CC's and not realise that the winnings will go back into the CC account. :rolleyes:
They also told me that another transaction had taken place on the 25th of this month which was "odd"
A £1 temp transaction was made by a company called Aztec Guitars, they seem to think that it's a precursor to a bigger fraudulent transaction.
The card has been cancelled and i've destroyed the original card as instructed.
I'm very confused about this Temp transaction though, can anyone shed any light on this sort of fraud?

Yep that happened to me last year.
Got a statement on Christmas eve, 1200 quid had been spent on Eurobet.
Proceeded by a small parches of about £12 in an Australia online music shop.

It took about 3 months to sort out.
I had only used that Credit card online one time about 6 months previous too.
