Know any hotels near Alton Towers

After many years of nagging, I've finally agreed to take the family to Alton Towers for a day or two. As such, I wondered if anyone knows about any hotels near the place. I'm not looking for anything elaborate, because we'll be arriving late and leaving early.

there is a travel inn (i think) called the racecourse in Uttoxeter which is only a 15-20 min jaunt from alton towers or of course there is always the alton towers hotel. btw its actually quite good fun

I stayed in the hotel in Alton Towers itself a couple of years ago.
Priority passes to get on (some) of the rides, none of this queuing nonsense. Free access (it's in the same complex) to the waterslidy complex, which was a godsend on a hot day. Car parking right out the front for 'special' cars.
Food was garbage, drinks were expensive.
All in all, though, would recommend it.

There was a pub/nightclub near to Alton called 'The Highwayman'.

Don't know if it's still there or if it does B & B - sorry.

Alton Towers hotel is good.

There is a nice hotel in Stone (called the Crown Hotel) not far from Alton Towers.

I wouldn't stay there for a million pounds (well maybe) I would suggest Brammells in the centre of town or there are plenty of other b + b s around

Superb hotel in Dovedale - The Izaac Walton.(01335 350555) Its about 20 mins drive but gets you away from the great unwashed !

Not exactly what you would call a family estabilishment anymore.

It was a long time ago, when I was staying in digs in Cheadle.

A group of us used to go there alot in our MGBs, Midgets etc.

Oh happy days before breathalysers, speed cameras etc.

I've stayed at Tenement Farm on 3 occassions, to go to Alton Towers. Its approx 10-15 min drive to AT.

Joyce and Stan do great fry ups for Brekkie.

I've stayed in a place called the beehive - a b&b about 10 mins walk from alton towers. It's in a little village (can't remember what) - family run - pretty basic - but cheap and a cracking pub round the corner too.
