Hi all,

Pushing my luck somewhat but here goes. Im a student back from uni for the summer and I'm heading out to Greece for the rest of the summer on July 3rd. My plan was to come home, get a job, earn lots of money then enjoy my time in Greece.

The problem is there are no jobs around, I have no car so it limits my options somewhat.

If any PH'ers are in the Beds/Herts area and need need a 20 year old lad to help with a job they have (be it painting, removals, landscaping, office work) I am available for anything. But I need picking up from Stotfold (and there's the clincher!).

I know its a long shot but....

Hi Ben, can't help you I'm afraid, but there must be something you can do, if it's only short term and you're not fussed about what you do.

What about driving or something? Or were you hoping for a bit of 'experience' at the same time?

I have quite a bit of work experience as I have had a job pretty much since I was 13, I also had a year out before Uni in a set of Barristers Chambers so experience isnt the problem.

I literally dont care what I do, would rather not do food but there is just nothing about. Normally I borrow my mums car and work at Toddington Services in the Petrol Station.

Thanks for the replies!

try a local temp agency - I used to do that for summer work, they can be a bit crap, but are worth a shot. Or phone up a local warehousing/distribution place and ask if they've got any temp work going (they usually have IME)

Not much use to you now, but from memory & bitter experience you have to bag your summer job way in advance if you want enything decent!

Don't know the area where you are. Any temping firms locally? If you can cycle to the station (keeping fit!), and get yourself into London you'll be OK.

Yeah thats right, thing is I only have a couple of weeks left in sunny England so it would be unrealistic to score a city job in such a short time.

Recruitment agents are a good idea but in my experience if you dont have a car its a waste of time. My local one only got me one days work in a month last Christmas and thats when I had a car! Will give it a go though!

Ben, can you get to the barristers chambers without a car?

If so, give them a ring, you never know they may want someone to help out for a few weeks (other clerks will have holidays this time of year and I'm sure they would be happy to pay you out of petty cash - nil tax). - I did it in a BC for 3 summers while at school.

I think it's great that you want a job and are willing to open yourself up for jokes in order to offer your services (fudge packing did make me laugh though!).

Surely there are some rich PH's in Bens area who can do with someone to do various odd jobs??
