Ascot - York - one huge heliport!
Discussion
A friend of mine is working on the bar. I can picture the scene now:
"One will have a large Gin and Tonic, and... Phil, stop jabbering on about the 'bloody immigrants', I'm ordering our refreshments...oh yes, on will also have a glass of finest Scotch for one's other half. One is most grateful, put in on the Bank of England"
We're meeting up for a drink after so I can find out how many toffs she served.

You won't find many people like that at Ascot these days (or York ..
) its all new money. Why oh why are they holding it at York, ticket sales have been very poor and all those working in the city can't really hop on the train..
should've been at newbury!

Vixpy - Balls!
Its nearly sold out - Its on the BBC now!
York is a fine course and the trains are excellent
Theres even a shuttle from the station to the course
One Toff states "its far easier to visit York form Cambridge than it is to get to Ascot"!
Plenty of Toffs atthe Champagne bars - £26 a bottle is cheapest - not bad really
Well done to York - a one off and its looking splendid
There are two ends to the country you know

James is that you? Thought you had a MINI? >> Oh, no it's not. Sorry, my friend's boyfriend used to have a Fiesta.

It's quite funny. All the local landed gentry up here have tried to let their houses out for the week. You could have Thorp Perrow (seat of Sir John Ropner) for £50k for the week or Constable Burton Hall for £40k.
Yorkshire folk greedy? Heaven forbid.
They got their comeuppance. Roundly slagged in the press for being greedy and then no takers anyway.

Ah yes, the bbc.. the last bastion of truth! Ladies day is sold out, two days ago 20% of the tickets were unsold, and 50% of the royal enclosure tickets were available.
Whenever i go racing, I'm always amazed at the people who arrive by the coach load, go straight to the champagne bar and stay there all afternoon getting pissed, and behaving badly.... They seem to have no interest in the actual racing.

I must admit, last time it was race season in York the bars were full of London gangsters with chunky gold jewellery, shaved heads and trophy girlfriends, forced into suits, swigging champagne from the bottle. Only bit of class on show was a black Lamborghini Diablo VT
You could tell it was their weekend off from slamming people's heads in the doors of Ford Granadas
