The most tragic thing is that he his broke.
Amazing how so many people have robbed him of his money and basically exploited him to the end.
Its a dirty "sport" full of crooks it seems to me, and too often the guy in the ring getting bloodied and broken is being manipulated and exploited by people smarter than them. There are no scruples it seems.

It's a sad story indeed. Tyson's prime was a bit before I got into boxing, but his record (upto about five years ago at least) spoke for itself. Plus the fights that I have seen have proved what a fiercesome fighter he was. It's very sad to see him go out like this. Down and out as they say...

So much is these days.
It's a sad fact about capitalism (and I don't mean to sound like a lentilist here) that anything has potential for money to be made out of it.
Sport should be about human competition and fairness, and any 'tactics' should be about the game at hand.
However, in this world of hyper-consumerism, everything and everyone is a product to be used and profited from. I find it sad sometimes that we applaud people for simply making money regardless of what they've actually done.

There is nothing I hate more than someone who squanders natural gifts. Mike Tyson has done this time and time again.
His personal life is exactly that. However, my respect for him was always as quite simply the most devestating boxer of all time. Watch "Mike Tyson's greatest hits" for a sample of what the man was capable of doing.
He surrounded himself with tricksters and criminals and, true to their nature, they robbed him blind.
I always had the belief that as a natural winner he would be disgusted with thought of losing, train hard, destroy everyone and retire as someone who came through everything and finished on top. Even now, he is capable. He has the wrong people talking in his ear and dipping into his pockets.
Back in the day, the other fighters (no matter what they said in the media) feared him. He got into the ring with only one objective, to knock you out as soon as possible. He wasn't there for a decision in the 12th. He could knock fighters out with either hand. His hand speed was insane for the amount of power that was behind them. Again, have a look at the "Greatest Hits" dvd and watch his footwork. He will never go backwards, always forwards towards his opponent. Knowing that a fighter who can lift a heavyweight off of his feet with a punch is stalking you every 3 minutes for 12 rounds without appearing to tire has got to worry anyone.
Mike Tyson. The mighty have fallen. I still think he could do something special but he needs to go back to the things he was doing with his trainer Cus D'mato. Simplicity in training is always the best way.
