Suffered a nasty cut (on a broken tile) about an inch long but very deep and it has beed bleeding quite a bit - soaked through plasters, even through a folded up bandagethat i taped on :cry:
Probably needs a stitch or two - not got time to sit in A&E - too much to do in too little time this weekend.
Now I saw (at least I think I did) advertised on TV late on night some sort of antiseptic sealant/glue type stuff for cuts - Anyone know what its called???????

cyano-acrylate type super glue.
IIRC it was developed during the vietnam war as a faster method of suturing. apparently it breaks down in the bloodstream eventually.

If it's continuing to bleed then you MUST get to casualty as you may have caught a blood vessel. If it's a vein then it will continue to ooze blood until you bleed to death!
Seriously, if it's still bleeding after 15 mins then it needs stitching properly. You may not have time but don't mess with your life!

I am an A&E doctor. It sounds like you need to get it checked out if it is continuing to bleed, there are some quite superficial veins in the ankle area that can bleed like stink if cut. Also when was your last tetanus jab? If it was more than 10 years ago you could do with a booster.

Had a tetanus about 3 years ago
got a thick gauze compress strapped on tight with a bandage and loads of adhesive tape - courtesy of the first aid kit in the company motor - forgot about that until i was hunting for my smokes

If it is still bleeding you really should go to A&E. One particular vein in the ankle (the long saphenous vein) really can be a bugger to stop bleeding if you cut it and may even need to be "tied off" if cut.
We often use this vein to pump fluid into people when you can't get access into other veins, for example when they have bled so much from elsewhere that all their other veins have "collapsed".

The stuff on TV, it forms a surface over which a scab can form, but stings like f**k. If its still bleeding, get a thick, clean towel and apply with a lot of pressure over the cut for 15 mins at least. in that time dont move it, or peel back to have a look. If its really deep, hold on for at least 30 mins.
If after that its still pouring with blood then FFs go to A & E!

Chim_knee was right, if it's still bleeding, then there's a danger that the saphenous vein might be nicked, which can be bad news, and may well require a wound cleaning and a stitch or two. I know it's a long wait, but really you should go to A&E or a minor injuries unit.
