Get-Rich-Quick schemes?

A question I strongly suspect I know the answer to already. But I'll ask anyway.
A quick serach on Google produces a long list of "Make Money On The Internet" schemes. You know the sort of thing - "I was just like you, and then I discovered scheme XYZ, and now I get £1000/day for only 2 hours work. Try it, financial freedom could be yours ... " I'm as cynical as the next chap, and my instinct is to dismiss them all - if they sound too good to be true, they probably are. Does anyone know anyone who has made money with this sort of scheme?

Think about it this way - if you could earn £1000 for 2 hours work (or whatever the particular claim is) why would you tell everyone else how to do it??? Would you not just employ people to work for you and earn you a further £1900 for every 2 hours they work???

The guy who starts it, will recruit 10 people, who each give him £100 to join the scheme. Then each of the ten recruit ten more, each 'buying in' with £100, fairly soon there is a huge base of people who have put money in who will get nothing out. The guy at the top is test driving his new ferrari and the hundreds at the bottom just lose.
Pyramid Selling is illegal, but they dress it up as a franchise... passing on a 'book' that is the secret to wealth is a top one... it basically tells you to re-sell copies of the book
Why would you want a get rich quick scheme anyway? I know I'd prefer to make my first million in a way that challenged me and made me grow. Not conning all my friends and family

I've got a few I've come up with over the years.
There is, however, always a catch.
Some are (how should I put it?) less than legal.
Some are extremely borderline.
The rest require medium sized sums of money! Which of course I dont have in the first place.
I dont think there is a real "get rich quick" scheme which is legal.
There are lots of "get rich slow" by working hard, taking some calculated risks and having a fair amount of luck.
Who was it who said, when asked in an interview whether he felt he was "lucky" in accumulating his wealth "Its funny really, the harder I work, the luckier I get"

Its about the leverage of money... If you have some, and you use some knowledge to make it work hard for you then your on a winner.

I didn't listen... which is why I spunked away £25k-ish last year and have nothing to show for it.

Yup, Multi Level Marketing (basically pyramid schemes).
The websites are really wonderful though. You'll never read so much bullshit in your lives.
It is possible to make money out of them, I know one person who has made money out of a few. He doesn't start them but he holds a lot of influence and people often buy into them to curry favour. He is quite old and neaive and doesn't seem to realise that those below him don't make money. But I guess they see the money lost as an investment anyway.

So, if money is a leverage tool, and you can use it to make more money, where should you start, and how much is a "Medium Sized Amount" of money? A grand? Ten grand? A few million?

Whatever you can save... I've managed to save a few grand in the last year or so, it's not much but its something that is waiting for the right opportunity to come up... wether thats buying a business, property, intellectual property or whatever... I know that I won't miss the next opportunity.

Unfortunately I don't know of any way to make big bucks with minimal efforts but I do know how to make £100-£200 with 30mins effort. Once you've made £100-200 my scam stops working.

Some do work, but the figires are totally out of proportion. For example, the emails you get that say "send this on and make £30,000 in one week" never work fully, but you can make an easy £100-£200 out of them. but can you live with yourself, knowing you have scammed people out of their hard earned money?

Woman claiming income support while working was fined £100 and 60hrs community service. She asked for 38 similar offenses to be taken into consideration.
Assuming a minimum of £50 per offence she still got over £30 an hour for the "community punishment".
Might try that one myself.
