I got stopped with razors for the first few months after 9/11 and then they saw sense. Probably to do with the fact that I and a million others pointed out to them that we could buy the razor blades again at Boots airside.
THe one to watch for is the M3 Power: remove the battery if packing it in your hold luggage. If you don't it might start off and trigger a bomb (or sex toy
) alert.

Watch out though for small penknives, some tweezers, or other such things
I tried to take some tweezers with me (I use them for my work not plucking eyebrows) once and they wouldnt let me, then climbed on board to be served food with a metal knife and fork.....

Which airline? I was under the impression that this was now banned.
You can not take any razor into the cabin. You could take an electric razor but thats about it. It make me wonder how they inforce these rules as you cant take a penknife but you can take pens and pencils.
In the right hands a pen or pencil can be lethal.

The last time I flew on Swiss, I was given a plastic knife and a metal fork

In KLM Business Class I've been given a plastic knife and fork with a metal spoon.
A determined terrorist could easily take a hostage and threaten to scoop out an eye.

I would imagine that any terrorist threatening someone with a spoon would be swiftly overpowred and given a damned good shoeing, to be honest.

Heh. Although I don't know of any martial art that covers being attacked with spoons
After all, if somone shoved a serving spoon where the sun don't shine you'd be somewhat incapacitated.
Now a punch ladle, that's what the real gangsters have

I forgot I had a Swiss army penknife with me about 9 months ago, It was confiscated, fair eneough, but I then bought it's replacement in the airport departures lounge and brought it back to security.
They reluctantly gave me back my penknife after 30 mins!
That seems ridiculous? WTF is an airside trader doing selling knives?! Shirley would've been better to stop the shop selling any others than giving you back a weapon simply because any other passenger could've bought one too. Something fishy with your story old chap (sounds rather like Zod's but with knives) - this wasn't in the 60's was it? ;-)
