Morning All,

Well my twelve months are up with Orange. I'm happy with the service and don't intend on changing that. However I do want to change my phone.

I've currently got a Moto V600, and am quite taken by the V3 RAZR (silver rather than black). However I don't want to plunge into a new contract without considering what else is out there.

I must have a clamshell phone (just something about them I prefer). I do use the camera and WAP a lot so a good screen is a plus point.

So what do you lot recommend?

I have a V3 Razr and like it very much. Definitely the most stylish phone on the market right now, and with a large screen.

I've got a V3 - great phone, but it offers nothing new over your current V600.

It's exactly the same to use, same menus etc.

Just (rather obviously) in a smaller sleeker casing...

Hope that helps.

Thanks Chris. I must admit to being quite taken with the V3 because it is so slim (the V600 is a brick by comparison).

How do you find things like battery life, sound and picture quality? Does the case scratch easily?

Thanks

Rightly Ho, here we go...

The v3's great. I've had mine since Sept last year.

Not scratched at all, (usually lives in my shirt pocket - I work from home before all the satorial gurus start hurling abouse at my dress sense )

excellent battery life - gets used alot & lasts about three days before needing a top up charge (couple of hours)

The battery life was pants at the beginning until the battery had conditioned itself after a couple of charge cycles.

The audio is really good - v. clear & no background noises from the handset (unlike my blackberry!)

Highly recommended really. The camera is OK as well, but it's nice to have a small phone that's easy to use that can cope with my podgy fingers on the keys...

Very easy to put images & ringtones on it as well using the supplied USB cable (that charges the phone as well!)

Hope that helps,

Chris

I just got one as a free upgrade. It is nice. But for a fat-fingered git like me texting is quite hard as the 1,2,3 buttons are slightly obscured by the sliding lid piece thingy. Best to actually try one before buying I think.

I received my 6230I (having upgraded from a 6230) and I thoroughly recommend it. I know it doesn’t forfill the clamshell criteria, but the V3 is the only phone that does, the only feature it lacks (and this may not be important to you) is video recording

Got my Sony Ericsson K750i last week.

Love it, it does everything I could possibly want it to, great camera, media player, memory stick. Good software. I seriously cannot fault it.

Sorry, but it doesn't matter how much you actually spend each month, your basic package is £30 and on that tariff the V3 is £69.99 for an upgrade. Oh and all our new contracts are now eighteen months
Grrrr So let me get this straight, if I was a new customer, I could get the phone for free on the tariff I'm on.

woman_in_orange_shop said:
Yes, but that doesn't matter in your case
So what does? Admittedly my monthly spend isn't much more than just the basic package, but most of the extra is in calls whilst abroad which don't count towards my free minutes, so a more expensive package (ie £50+) is pointless for me.

And what about your new corporate slogans about keeping the customers you have as been more important that getting new ones?

I don't see how thats really relevant
Huh? I do.

my 2p:

altho the razor phone is very stylish, the camera isnt anything like as good as a lot of other phones out there. it roughly has a 0.3mp camera when some of the best have 2mp!
