Dancing for blokes
Discussion
Not sure on this one, I have been invited to go along to some latin/salsa dance classes.
Now, this looks very cool, and I'd love to dance really well. Now, I know that I would love to try it, but some opinions from PH'ers, male and female would be appreciated.
Would I be considered a macho spanish stallion, that ladies will drool over... Or just look like i've entered a Barrymore look-a-like contest?
:D

Not my thing.
But
A (male) friend of mine wanted to meet people (different from his usual set of friends) so he signed up and ended up meeting his girlfriend. They now have two children and when they can fit it in will be getting married. He seems to be happier now than I have seen him in a long time.
They do not go to Salsa classes anymore!
You just have to try it and see for yourself.

Do it! I tried it once, it was a total laugh with the ladies doing really well and all the blokes making arses of themselves.
If you've got a bird, take her along and it'll warm her up nicely for horizontal salsa. If you're single, you'll get to meet and dance with loads of ladies and its a great place to 'make new friends'

when I was in uni one of the older students tried to get us in to ballroom dancing - we all laughed at him until he told us there was loads of women there....and he was bloody right!!!
Did it for 2 years and had a great time, met loads of nice women and was not quite so afraid to get up and strut my stuff. I would go for it, worst that can happen is you wont like it...best is wall to wall women in their lycra clad bodies chasing after you to be their 'partner' for the jiggy bits

I was a prize winning ballroom dance when I was young
As soon as I hit my teens it was decidedly uncool so I stopped.
Now I wish I could still do it. I saw a couple dancing properly at a do a while ago. A waltz came on and they "owned" the dancefloor. Everyone else was doing the "turning around a bit" dance that we all do but they soon got off when this couple got on. Impressive doesn't sum it up.
Any form of dancing that you can do well is pretty cool IMHO

Hey, why not. Caution though - a good friend of mine went to some Salsa dancing classes and found that it was a mixture of desperate blokes with clammy palms who thought they were suave Bond-a-likes out on the pull, and SS-precise girls with no sense of humour who went because they probably bored all their friends to death (or didn't have any). As a result, she only went a few times.
I'd say go to learn to dance, primarily, and to meet people too, but look out for the ones I've mentioned!
