Hi all,
Looking at getting one of these on the cheap, can't afford a spangly new one.
My brother has an Archos Jukebox 20GB from a few years back which he reckons is OK. They seem to go for about 50-60 quid on fleabay, so that plan is getting one of these or maybe the 6GB one and sticking a 60 or 80GB laptop hard disk in - total expenditure a little over a hundred.
Has anybody done this with any success? Found a couple of sites on the net where people have put 30 or 40 GB drives in; any reason why there should be a higher size limit? Any HD makes that could prove problematic?
Also, anybody know whether they are USB / USB2?
Any other ideas? Need something with 40GB minimum and for not much over 100 quid max...

Older ones are USB 1.1
Upper limit on disc size will be determined by the 'BIOS' in the device, but you'll need to research the facts to determine what firmware updates can be applied to older units.
I have a 6gb one which appears to boot up but not work properly. If you want to play with it you can have it for the postage costs and the price of a couple of beers.
