Has anyone been following this in the news?

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/4550069.stm

I find it quite fascinating. Like something straight out of a movie. Has anyone got any ideas what may be wrong with him?

Just read this in the paper.

How bizarre. Maybe he came from outer space or even from the labour party?

Performance art? Bit like the guy who "scratched" cars... i.e. pointless, yet "expressive", waste of time!

am i to assume that everytime that anyone is arrested now they, just on the off chance, plonk them down at a piano, you know, on the off chance they're a virtuoso pianist? and to think that i thought the law was a nonsense. it makes the 500 million investment in equipping all police stations with Steinway's all the more worthwhile too. theres a lesson here for us all i think.

officer: have you anything further to add?

maestro: dum. dum dum dum. dum dum dum dum dum dum.

officer: come now laddy, don't play dum with me.

They were saying on Jeremy Vine's show that he'll make a full recovery.

How very strange!

"Nobody was skilled enough to recognise the music, they just knew it was classical music and he played very well."

If only there was some kind of device that could be used to record his piano playing so they could play it back to someone who would know what music it was

Do you think they'll try a range of instruments, I mean they don't have to be a virtuoso pianist. They could try guitars, cello's, triangles... the lot!

Officer: Try this sonny. [hands over a trianle]
Suspect: [swish] Ting!
Officer: 'es a genuis and no mistake!

That’s what I can’t make my mind up about. IMM there's two possible scenarios:

1) The guy’s a genuine musician who's had an accident or some kind of trauma and is suffering from amnesia or other mental problem - in which case this is very sad.

2) The guys a basket case timewaster and the social services think anyone who can play chopsticks on the common room upright is a virtuoso pianist - this wouldn't surprise me either.

Didn’t James Bond wear a Tuxedo under a wetsuit in one film?

So he has not said a word, and all the labels in his clothes have been cut out - he's probably an illegal immigrant who's swam the English Channel at it's widest point. He probably doesn't understand or speak English and cut the labels out of his clothes so that investigators couldn't track down his country of original.

Hmmm... you can imagine it:

'ere Sarge, according to the labels in his clothes - he appears to be from a sweat-shop in China.

apparently when he was 'caught', he wasn't saying a word. They couldn't get anything out of him (whether becaus ehe didn't understand or couldn't talk I don't know). They gave him a bit of paper and a pen, on which he drew a piano. They put him in front of a piano and proceeded to play rather quite well!

He should have drawn a helecoptor - he could have made a better escape than drawing a piano!

i can just imagine it ...
start off by drawing a picture of a old battered acoustic 6-string and then treating the nursies to the intro from 'Stairway To Heaven'.
