Inside out contact lens

Ah! That's sooo much better now! I got up in a bit of a dazz this morning and managed to put my right lens in inside out (first time in 10 years!). My eye's been bugging me all morning so popped it out (much to the discuss of my colleague ) and noticed it was inside out. Put it back in the right way round and all is well

Anyone else ever done that?

I regularly do it with the daily disposables I use. I can always tell though; when I can only see the inside of my head.....

I wear the daily disposables. I hate it when my eye gets dry and the lens rolls itself up and goes right up under my eye lid. Sometimes it goes so far up under the skin it feels like I'll need to pop my eyeball out to retrieve it.

Contact lenses are just wrong. There's no way I would ever touch my eye or willingly attach something to it!

if my lenses are inside out, its kinda saucer shaped, but if its right its more shaped like a bowl....sounds odd I know, but it hurts like buggery if I put them in the wrong way...

oh esp with the dailies I also like it when one sometimes splits and you manage to whip one half out but the other half disappears round the back of your eyeball and you spend the next 10 minutes jumping around like a lunatic with your eyelid shut massaging your eyeball furiously with your finger while trying to look left/right/up/down until your feel a tiny shred of plastic wiggle out the side and you pull it off the back of your eyeball. Ah joy!

Just out of interest, who would actually have (or has had) laser surgery to sort it out once and for all? Think I'll stick with me milk bottles and bits of plastic ta.

I had laser surgery last June, my eyes get a little more strained than they used to when using computers all day - but nothing too uncomfortable.
Having had glasses since I was 11 (I'm 29 now) and contacts since 18 I cannot tell you what a relief it was to be without.
This may sound a bit sissy but the first night after the op I actually cried when I looked over at the digital display on my alarm clock knowing it was un-aided and that it was crystal clear rather than a red blur.
Until you've been in this situation you'll never know what that means.

I used to pay £25 a month for my contacts so it'll pay for itself within 4 years. Even if after that time I need to start wearing glasses again at least I'll have had some time without and it won't have cost me any more.

:hand-up smilie: I've had laser surgery and used to wear daily disposables. Best thing I ever did.... IMHO

It's also fun when you get 2 stuck together and put them in without realising. It's like having contact binoculars.

Mine are the same, but this morning I failed to notice in my dazzed state. Only when I got to work did I feel something wasn't quite right.

And as for loosing them inside my eyeball, never quite manged that one. I did loose a pair by foolishly opening my eyes under water at a swimming pool once.

I find it far too easy to put dailies in upside down.

And losing the lens somewhere around the back of the eyeball is bloody horrible. It happened to me (again) a couple of weekends ago, took ages to find and my eye took a real beating (rubbing the finger over the eyeball searching for the damn thing is a surefire way of drying out the eye and turning it red for a couple of days).

Horrible.

Just a thought for those loosing their lenses in their eyeball, have you tried Optrex? Great for flushing grit out, so surely gotta be able to remove a rouge lens?

My brother thought he'd lost a contact lense. Six months later he started having trouble with one of his eyes. Went to the doc and it turned out it had gone round the back of his eye, and had been there for six months!

He was in hospital for three days while they got it out and sorted his eye, and 3 months on has just been given the clearence to wear lenses again. He hates glasses!

I have only put then in inside out a couple of times - and knew it straight away.

I have the monthly disposable so I put a new pair in at the beginning of the month and forget about them until the end of the month. Being able to see as soon as I wake up is great!
