BBC not biased?
Discussion
arrrrrrghh just watching BBC1 and local news is on talking about greenpeace Agrevated tresspassing.
obviously they decided to "look deaper" into the issue and make news out of it.
the thing that has just anoyed me was this, some reporter said-
"Greenpeace will continue to highlight the problems while users will continue to TRY and justufy their use!"
Is it just me being sensetive or is the word TRY saying a lot about where BBC stands on this issue
Anyhow heres a link to the story

Actually the word AND really pisses me off.
They are going to try.
'And' they are going to do what else?
You don't try AND do something, you try TO do something.
I'll ignore the typo

It was the same on the business news on Radio 2. They said 4x4 owners will have to TRY and justify their use. Are the journalists briefed to not say anything for the motorists? They could have asked Greenpeace to justify why they're trying to drag a British Factory to it's death.
I suppose they'll get less compaints if they're anti-motorist than for.

Look, I've worked with plenty of news reporters, and by-and-large they are not biased.
The editorial team has little or no say in what the reporter chooses to say on a VT, much less so on a live transmission.
The BBC suffers from 'institutional left wingism' (a phrase by a journalist who has just written a book about the BBC), meaning that even when they think they are being unbiased, the terms of the debate are always seen from a left wing perspective.
There are very many instances of bias in terms of the words used, the tone, and the news agenda.
Look, your average person who goes into journalism:-
1) Is not scientific-minded, they're more into arts-subjects. Thus simple things like logic often escape them. As does cause-and-effect.
2) Can be so keen to produce good "copy" that those little things called "facts" are conveniently omitted where they get in the way of a story.
3) Is often left-wing (Mail and Telegraph journo's excepted).
4) Is more interested in a good "sound-bite" quote from someone than they are a well-presented and rounded argument.
5) Seems to me to be increasingly lazy where our esteemed government is concerned.
So, you get what we currently have, which is a bunch of one-sided stories because "that's what the readers/viewers expect to read/see."

One bloody word, christ.
Parrot its not just one word. read the whole sentence.
it to me implies greanpeace right/ owners wrong
and personaly I do think that the word try has a deeper meaning in this context.
Also I did ask is it me? no need for your last sentence why so defensive?

I thought it was institutionally left wing because they only recruit in the bloody Grauniad.
It is, without a shadow of doubt. They use your licence money to propogate a 'New Briton' agenda. They are THE MEDIA.
Thing is, as a graduate wanting to get into the media, the Grauniad would be my first port of call if I was looking for jobs, as well as Broadcast.
However, I have this creeping feeling that they might 'vet' their companies, so if they're advertising via the Grauniad, they'll have the old PC-filter when it comes to their staff, and of course that puts me at the bottom of their list.
Thet use the cretin-english of ignorant more and more too. Idiot language, for example not one did I heat the A380 referred to as an "airliner" - always "passenger jet". Jet fighters as "Fighter Jets".
And on Question Time people like the champagne-socialist hypocrite Billy Bragg are always given the last word, so the unemployed rent-a-mob audience get to clap loudest and longest, conveying to the weak of mind that the view most recently expressed is most generally agreed with and by implication the more valid.
I hate Billy Bragg with more passion than I can express.

No it doesnt: I see you like motorcars, Mr Toad. "yes, but obviously my favourite is the Prius"...
Well, I think first they'll realise that I'm a male, white, middle-class graduate and take a mild dislike to me. Then they'll take a look at my CV and realise that I haven't spent a gap year wearing snadles and eating grass in a jungle somewhere and dislike me a bit more. Once they realise I was in the karting club for 3 years, I haven't joined a left-wing political party and I hosted a radio show that eschewed Radiohead, Scissor Sisters and Nirvana from its playlists, and dump my application in the bin.

So you're against censorship and bias eh?
BTW here's a little tip for you, if you think something may cock up your application for you, dont put it on your CV.

Nirvana? "Just because you're paranoid..." etc.
Yours is, indeed, as you imply, a hopeless cause, TC16. Might as well reach for those 50 aspirin now - and a nice bottle of Bombay Sapphire to wash them down with...
