Why the do Fifth Gear bother to test a car like the Jeep Wrangler if all they are going to do is put Jason Plato in and let him grown on and on about how it doesn’t compare with an X5. At least when they put Tom Ford in the Disco 3 he drove the thing off road. Evan if he did off-roaders little favour by doing so.

Then the crash test at the end. Shocking as it was, I would have liked to see a comparison with a large estate hitting the small car side on at 60MPH.

i think ALL the Fifth Gear tests should involve cars hitting David Dickinson. Those are statistics we NEED to know. Personally, i would buy a car based on entirely on that outcome of that journalistic research.

Top Gear will be here soon. Until then, at least there is a motoring program on terrestrial.

Yeah, why did he bang on and on about Jeeps being good off-road then complain about its on-road performance. That's like getting a Lotus Elise and saying its crap because there's not much boot space and it can't do the Camel Trophy.

Does anyone seriously believe people will buy that car for its off-road performance?

Why? Do you think they'd buy it for its on-road performance? People want it for its load and passenger space. However, when it comes to more serious buyers, they're more likely to want it for its off-road than on-road performance.

I'm afraid Fifth Gear is mutating into Driven (in its final series incarnation). Short "magazine" items that don't tell you much and don't inspire either. It's saying something that the biggest topic of conversation this week was VB-H's hairdo.

IMO they should either stretch it to an hour and do their articles justice, or keep it to 3 ten-minute bits. There just isn't space to cram all that stuff in.

The Jeep article was crap - all I wanted to know was what the Hemi was like in the Jeep. I already know it wont handle like a X5, I just want to know if it goes like stink when you floor the throttle.
