Most amazing facts.... afternoon fun
Discussion
Ok, it's Friday afternoon and it's time for a quirky thread.
Post up really amazing or unusual facts that you know to be true. Can be about anything at all. But make it the jaw dropping kind.
Kind of like a PH Ripley's Believe It Or Not.
I'll kick off:
The Fuel Pumps on the Space Shuttle main engines can empty an olympic size swimming pool of fuel in around a minute.
Just think of how much liquid that is!

Banana 'trees' are in fact herbs. The biggest herb in the world.
Broccoli (Calabrese) is named after a relative of Albert 'Cubby' Broccoli of James bond film fame.

I knew the Banana one - weird huh? Never knew the Broccoli one though...
Did you know peanuts aren't nuts? They are legumes.
The electrical impulses that run through the brains of small mammals, such as mice, exactly match the frequencies of the electrical components in most pocket organisers. If an organiser is switched on and placed next to head of, say, a pet mouse, the interference causes words to form on the screen which match those of the thought processes of the mouse. The most common words seen are "hungry" and "tired", but sometimes more complex messages are seen, such as "stop poking me in the head with that thing!"
Okay, I admit it - I've no idea if it's true! May be fun trying though!

Well as its Friday I shall mention this, though I have no idea if it's true.
In an effort to compete with Ex for his link in the piercing thread I shall this:
One night at uni me and some mates were talking to some drunk girlies, apparently, if a girl bends forwards from the waist, she can pee as high up a wall as a man....
Sorry, work is a bit slow today
