I'm looking in to buying some land, and just wondering how much would be needed per horse...and also the difficulty of getting planning permission for something like this...oh, and does anybody know if you need planning permission to get a water pipe layed if there isn't one already?

Cheers

Generally its 1 acre per horse.

Some mobile stables dont require planning permission, check with the local council first.

Horse and Hound in the back section often have info on this type of thing.

An acre per horse seems quite alot, but it's pretty much what I've heard from elsewhere too...ah well!

Thats the recommened.
It allows the grass from becoming horse sick. You can fence off areas to allow them to regenerate.

Acre each, as a rule of thumb, we're about to take on a small bit of pasture at about an acre and a half, for one pony only, but with a companion donkey looks like, as they are all sociable animals
