well done liverpool

Well done liverpool,
good result (no im not a reds fan!)
looks like Ac in the final.
Chelsea could not break down a great defence and its quite clear that they need an out and out goalscorer.
perhaps owen !?
no matter what anyone says, droby isnt good enough in the premiership battles etc. good pro but not a £26 mil player by a long shot.
aAyway good luck to all liverpool fans and the players and lets all wish the lads a great final where they bring the european title back to the UK.
well done lads.
Win the Title.

At the end of the game its who scored what that counts period. As a london lad its a Shame Chelsea didnt get to the final but I for one wish that Liverpool go and win the final.
who gives a sh@@e that they defended for so long ?
It looks like a well laid plan to me.
Chelsea will be back thats for sure as will Real, Inter, Man Utd etc, etc.
I just hope Liverpool win the final.
Good luck to them.

Agreed, Carragher was outstanding, they defended well as a unit and fully deserved it.
what you mean, defended for 87 minutes, with 10 men behind the ball? magnificent.... well, I guess AC Milan will do the same to Liverpool
There's a difference between defending for 87 minutes because you are winning and defending for 90 minutes hoping to get a lucky goal on the break or win on penalties.
Any team would have adopted the same tactic as Liverpool did in that situation.

Well, I guess they're not used to winning, so when the chance occurs, might as well hold onto it as tight as possible.
i for one am very happy Liverpool made it through, chelsea would have done the same if they got the early goal. 968 said:That’s not really fair, both teams knew they had to score to win the game and it was Liverpool who had the urgency to press for an early goal and were duly awarded with one. Chelsea's task was now clear and they failed. This game highlighted Chelsea's weakness, their attack. Ol' Roman needs to get his cheque book out because Drogba and Kezman just aren't up to it.

Yep that is what Liverpool do best, it worked against Juve in the last round and again versus Chelsea tonight. It might not be pretty but my god it works well.
Really hope the boys do it in the final, the crowning glory and the only way we are getting back in the Champions League next year!
Ben - proud owner of "Istanbul 05" liveried Liverpool shirt!

I think without Duff and Robben, their attacking options are very limited, and yes, I am sure that Kezman will be out, Drogba, however, I think has been unlucky with injuries this year, and hasn't been fully fit the whole season, but I agree they need another 2 strikers and another right back. I suspect Owen will be on the list, as is Adriano.
Yep Kezman was good in the Dutch league but that's hardly Premiership or top European standard really.
I do like Drogba and like Cisse for Liverpool he needs to get back from injuries and show what he really can do!
They do need other striking options for sure and I can see Owen being in a blue shirt come next season much as it pains me to say so!
He really is a top top player!

Agreed !
Ah sweet ! Revenge for my team's 3-2 UEFA cup final defeat at the hands of Mourinho.
Must.Follow.My.Own.Advice.
What goes around comes around Mourinho, your team's extended goal celebrations/time wasting in the UEFA cup final amounting to provocation were noted.

It was a goal, because it was given. I'm not sure whether it was over the line or not, but that's not really the point now. Personally I'd have preferred the pen, and Cech sent off for clouting Milan in the face, which was as far as I can see the only other option.

Bad losing and pointless whinging a la XLax Ferguson. Get stuffed you arrogant 2@.
Great game and we got the result we needed. If you know your opponents weaknesses then you play to them. We could not beat them by playing the same type of game as they do but we played to our strengths. it was up to Chelsea to score and they couldn't. They were lucky that the goal was given as it really should have been a red card for the keeper and a penalty which, I think would have made it easier for Liverpool.
Lampard and Cole were not in the game and Gerrard and Carragher were brilliant.

Have to say I was surprised that Liverpool sneaked it, but well done to them!! I thought Carragher was immense.
Word of warning though-take care in Turkey. I feel that the presence of an English club will only stir animosity which exists between the "animal element"
Speaking as a Leeds fan I think it is absolutely disgusting that European finals are held there, and no action is taken against Turkish clubs for behaviour which would cause British clubs to be expelled from competition
Sorry for the thread hijack though!!

Great game?
Must have been watching a different one to me!
90 mins of 11 men defending the 18 yard line is hardly exciting to watch. Oh well, I guess we can look forward to more of the same in the final when Liverpool and Milan put on a masterclass in defending.
As a friend of mine just said, it will be better to watch the pre match riot and the 10 O'Clock news. Who's bright idea was it to hold the final in Istanbul? Don King?
