It's not rascist to be concerned about immigration

It's official.
Speaking in Dover, Mr Blair said "concerns about immigration were not about racism but about fairness".
but then he did go on to say "Labour had cut asylum claims faster than anywhere else in Europe to the lowest level since March 1997, he said".
How would the man who said the above, and said the words below, know?
"On illegal immigration, no-one of course knows precisely how many people are here illegally," said Mr Blair. "Michael Howard himself admitted as much in 1995 [when he was Home Secretary]."
Why should they bother to claim asylum when they can just walk in...

He's talking a bit more than bollox. He's lying through his teeth, he knows, I know it. Even the apologists for Labour know it. He accuses the conservatives of making it a single issue, completely avoiding the truth and fact that it (mass immigration, both legal and illegal) has, and will continue to have a profound and broad effect on this nation for a very, very long time, implications for every single one of us, from the student on here who thinks 'taken' jobs will not be an issue to the cloistered lawyer who because he has never had a personal problem with asylum seekers, or been refused public housing for the sake of an aslyum seeker being housed, see's no problem with the present situation.
I can't wait for said lawyers (future?) children to meet asylum seekers (future) children in years to come, and as for the student, when he gets a job, we'll see what his stance is then...

I'm not a member of any particular party. (and never will be). I couldn't give a toss what 'they' accuse me of, there are worse things to be accused of. I've had enough of this crap from our manipulative political masters, They have never done anything for me or my family in any sense, and i mean in any sense. All they have managed to do, is take our money, our efforts, our voice, and give it to other sections of their New Biton society. It's as simple as that.

I grew up in Coventry a couple of decades ago. It has a huge immigrant population that had been there for decades before that. I went to school with good friends who had mixed parents. To my mind the only problem is that immigrants should:
1) Feel that they can, and be encouraged to contribute to our society. All this hysteria about illegal immigrants and race hatred produces isolated communities that only make matters worse.
2) Pay for the infrastructure that makes the UK so attractive to them - income tax, council tax, NI and all the other payments we make to keep the country running.
Neither of these were (as far as I'm aware) issues in Coventry, or the Chineese communities in London, so the question is what has changed to make it a problem now?
Much of the current system is there to deal with this - immigrants are already given ID cards on entering the country and as I understand it, the laws are in place to ensure they are valid entrants to the country.
The stories we've seen in the news almost purely come from the fact that enforcment of these rules is in a mess, the immigration service is a disaster and the media hounding of immigrants makes it harder for these people to come forward.
