Your partner moans you don’t spend enough time with her, so you take a day out to go shopping and then end up saying “see you later” because you both want to go shopping in completely different shops.

The missus wants to look in boutiques and home accessory places. I, on the other hand, want to look at gadgets and audio-visual stuff and classic car books and DVD’s.

“Where do you want to meet for lunch?”, I’m asked.
“McDonalds is fine by me”, I reply.

A roll of the eyes and it’s clear that it needs to be a bistro somewhere. So a quick change of direction and we agree an Italian restaurant!

Oh the joys of a 20 year marriage. But you know what, I wouldn’t change it for the world. We’re best friends and instinctively know each others thoughts and feelings - by a glance or a certain tone of voice. Marriage is more than just passion between the sheets, it’s a partnership of two friends. Old fashioned maybe, but that’s our take.

I'm not even a year into our marriage yet and it sounds familiar.

Still have that but my position has had to change slightly.

Well, come to think of it, so has hers. She's pregnant.

Indeed. Here's a reply to an email I sent earlier today, explaining that I wouldn't be going for a curry tonight as expected:

"Oh well, looks like your have to spend the evening with either me, or the computer!! "

(smiley and bad English included)

Aren't girls great!

I'll tell you what, we've got four kids and my wife always goes over the nine month term. However, we've discovered a "highly reliable" way of inducing the birth.

I don't know. I've searched high and low for the answer but can't work it out.

I've asked all my friends and none of them know. I even asked this strange bloke who I found in our house about 5 months ago, wearing just boxer shorts and he didn't know either.

You are damn right that marriage is about more than passion between the sheets, because when you get married you dont get much of that anymore.

Well, coversely, I'm not married and a priest has had more sex this year than me!

Look on the bright side-if you are married you might be getting even less because there is less opportunity to ahemm... have sex with yourself.

Agreed. I now have a horrible mental image of you hooking a carrier bag on her toes before jumping on her stomach shouting "Four!".
