Just catching up on the Sunday papers. I see Mr & Mrs Howard have taken delivery of a new Toyota Prius.

Perhaps he knows something that we don’t.

To replace the car Sandra Howard had stolen?

I suppose it makes a decent enough second car.

Has he got an official car as well?-I'm sure he turned up somewhere in a Jag.

Its a bit worrying that his idea of a good car for him is a Prius-it hardly makes him a Motoring enthusiast.

The Prius is the PR man's dream though - clean, responsible, low-key and celebrity endorsed by DiCaprio et al.

He could always have a Morgan, like that other great Tory leader whose success he is sure to emulate shortly at the ballot box...Iain Duncan Smith!

With a luvverly BMW V8 in it too!

I have nothing against the more faceless politicians who aren't so attracted to making headlines and clamouring for glamour. Might prevent vanity projects such as Hussain...

And if he drives a Prius...well who gives a flying , really? Suggests frugality, which is better than Blair's wasteful V12 ways.

The V12 is not so bad - it's the fleet of hanger on vehicles that go with it that is the problem.

Prius a good idea in the absence of enough of the Honda equivalent.

Not made in the UK (Avensis and Corolla are. Yaris in France).

However it does avoid the Kengestion charge so shows a nice two fingers to the newt fancier.
