How many of us will leave?

I know i will finally get my ass into gear and go.
Current destination for me is Australia plenty of work for me and decent wages and standards of living.
If he gets back in i fear the country will finally die and i dont want to be here when it does.

So, am i alone or will people leave in their droves? Remember what Bliars rallying cry was at the 1st election? "Things can only get better"....wrong.

I think it would be Poland. Still in the EU so no need for passport control, plenty of work in Europe for my trade, less stupid drachonian laws and what has to be the killer for me - Flat Tax System Government take 20% and that is it.
Plus with some of the more aggresive ex-communist countries, if a large number of people get fed up with the government they just storm the government buildings and throw them out of office and on to the street.

Far East with a bolt hole in blighty, but thanks to BLiar's muppets' incompetence and the resulting nonsensical policies it might be a few days after the result is announced on May 6th...but I've a reasonable wager resting on Mr Howard booting him out and don't consider the bet to be lost just yet.

Soon?

Or is yours more the Paul Daniels style of threat?

The bookmakers have tories at 10-1 to win. It is very unlikely to happen, so have you already booked your tickets, or is it all talk?

speaking of which.. did anyone see 5th gear last week... and them testing that A1GP car down the public roads!?!?!? How cool is that!

edited to ad.. I'd love to be able to leave.. sadly not an option at the moment...

If I could however.. don't really know were to.. maybe Canada.. seems like a really nice place, although they don't like their cars much. Australia's speeding laws are worse than ours (if you want to be anywhere near civilisation).. and I couldn't stand that!

I am able to get by in German, French and Spanish dealing with these countries for a while now and picked up the language quite quickly so that shouldn't be a problem and I have 3 other languages to start with.

anybody thought about the isle of mann? isnt that different from england in the fact its not ruled by our queen?

plus the fact there are no speed limits at all outside of built up areas

A few years back I had a long chat with a certain Sgt Kinrade of the Isle of Man traffic plod, he sent me accident stats that showed no problem with their deristricted single lane country roads. However their dfT-linked mandarins were very nervous, and now I hear there are proposals to introduce wider speed limits to the island which would be a shame.

As far as I could tell at the time, nobody over there wanted them, but as the Manx stats weren't very 'speed kills' friendly and showed deristricted sl roads were safe, there was apparently considerable pressure brought to bear. Fortunately the island's legislative council (Tynwald) enjoy a high degree of domestic autonomy. Unfortunately it's not total. No idea what the current state of play is, any Manx PHers able to offer an update?

Edited to add, their stats showed that - like us - accidents and injuries were occurring mostly on speed limited built up roads at junctions etc.

Don't you mean when Labour wins?

I think the most that can be hoped for is a small Labour majority.

Doesn't mean we should give up trying though.
